  1. Talofa Tessa,

Simone Biles is such a talented young athlete, I just loved watching her successes at 2016 Rio Olympics. You’ve shared your reasoning for selecting her as your sporting hero, perhaps next time you could add some biographical information about her background. I think readers would love to read more about her.

Did you watch her compete at the Rio Olympics? If you did maybe you could share a video or article link that shows an example of her in action! I wonder how many Olympic medals she won that year..

    Toe feiloa’i fo’i,

  2. Hey Tessa,

This is Jade C from the Summer Learning Journey. I will be reading and commenting on your blog over the summer. I hope you are spending a lovely time with your family and friends, also I hope you are having fun doing the Summer Learning Journey activities :)

I also think that Simone Biles is an amazing gymnast! I've watched many YouTube clips of her wonderful performances in the Rio Olympics and other gymnastic competitions. I think she is very fit and strong! Do you do gymnastic? I used to be a part of the gymnastics group in primary, back then I was able to do cartwheel, handstand, and some tricks on the beam as I was very flexible. Now I became very stiff- I can't even do splits!

This is a cool video that I found on YouTube of rarest gymnastic skills.

I look forward to reading your other activity posts! Keep blogging and have a great day!

    All the best,
    Jade C.

  3. Kia Ora Tessa,

What an incredible athlete you have chosen! I love watching Simone Biles perform her amazing routines and agree with you, she must train very hard! Have you ever tried gymnastics? I never have but when I was very little I did ballet and loved it.

I would love to do pole vault, because they can jump and swing themselves over incredible heights and then gracefully fall onto the mat at the bottom. Eliza McCartney is a New Zealand track and field athlete who competes in pole vault and won the bronze medal (3rd) at the Summer Olympics in 2016. She was only 19 years old when she won, which made her the youngest Olympic Medallist in women's pole vault. Here's a youtube video of her jumping 4.8 metres! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EuE91rPbWrI

Just a reminder that we have one week left for the Summer Learning Journey and would love to see you complete more activities before the programme ends. You can find the activities here :
